(1) The BC Court of Appeal has ruled that publication in a forum where few users participate does not constitute publication for purposes of defamation law. This decision is under appeal to the Supreme Court of Canada (Crookes v. Newton) but is not expected by change. In the United Kingdom, where the common law of libel originated, a test of substantial publication applies before a liability can be found. Accordingly, the materials in this wiki are 'not published' unless and until verified and marked as such by the publishers. While the publishers will protect the full extent of the law and journalist custom, anonymous sources that contribute material without attribution it must have genuine public interest value. No personal or commercial derogations are encouraged and will be removed without notice. Comments about conflict of interest of public officials or relatives do have public interest value, as long as the issues are genuine, e.g. are widely reported.
